Beyond the Spectacle

Los Angeles runs on images.

Perfection is projected at monumental scale, then replaced without hesitation.  Faces hover above traffic—engineered for desire, calibrated for visibility, designed to 
disappear.

Afterimage begins when that projection collapses.

​

Fragments of urban ephemera, found fallen and exposed along a Venice sidewalk, carried traces of their former life—idealized faces stripped of elevation and severed from spectacle. Images built to sell perfection were never meant to fracture.

Gathered and reconstructed through collage, oil painting, and silkscreen, these remnants return as layered presences. Surfaces move between beauty and damage, visibility and erasure. The image flickers—at once 
recognizable and destabilized.

A recurring motif of barbed wire interrupts the gaze, marking boundary and resistance while exposing the tension beneath images that once appeared seamless. What was engineered for consumption now resists it.

What was meant to vanish now lingers.
