Patrick Tighe

Patrick Tighe is a fine artist based in Los Angeles, California and Lowell, Massachusetts (born 1966). Tighe received a BFA from UMA, Amherst and subsequently trained as an architect in Los Angeles. (Master of Architecture, UCLA).
Tighe's artistic vision is deeply influenced by his diverse experiences, spanning from the industrial grit of his working-class roots in Lowell to the vibrant and superficial allure of Los Angeles. This stark contrast serves as a catalyst for Tighe, prompting him to explore new territories, often revealing the unexpected in the work.
Central to Tighe's artistic practice is the emphasis on materiality. The process is robust, layers are built up and often scraped, scratched, and scrubbed away. Technique and finish are calculated, composed, often combined and/or contrasted. The resulting artworks possess a messy precision, reflecting Tighe's imperfect yet optimistic perspective on the world.
Tighe's body of work encompasses a wide range of mediums and formats, from large-scale installations and sculptures to mixed media pieces. His creations have been featured in prestigious museums and galleries worldwide, including the Venice Biennale, Museum Contemporary Art (MOCA) _ Los Angeles, A+D Museum _ Los Angeles, American Academy Rome, and Galleria Biagiotti Progetto Arte in Florence, Italy.
